Visiting London

A couple of days ago, I wrote about travelling to London but I didn’t get into much detail on the specific attractions you could visit in the city. So today I brought this extraordinary presentation about London I found in http://www.slideshare.net/ about everything you could visit in London.

I hope you enjoy it!

God Save The Queen

Following with the British culture, I am going to write about one of the most famous punk rock English bands: The Sex Pistols and their song God Save The Queen.

In 1975 there was a clothes shop named Sex in Kings Road, London. Some of those who used to hang out in that shop where members of a music band named The Stand and they were looking for a new lead singer. After auditioning many people they ended up choosing Johnny Rotten.

They all played their first gig as the Sex Pistols on the 6th of November, 1975. And in 1976 just at the start of the Punk Rock movement they played in the Lesser Free Trade Hall.

After serious problems with the records and the workers at the pressing plant, on the 27th of May, 1977 the famous single of the Sex Pistols God Save The Queen was released. The single became the most censored song in British history.

Although it was not their only single, they released other nineteen and fourteen albums, it is the most famous one.

Here you have it, listen and enjoy!

Trainspotting

Today I am going to write about a well-known and personally on of my favorite film: Trainspotting.

What a better way to start than with the most famous quote in the film:

This film tells the story of a group of friends who are heroin addicts in the 80’s. Although the film is set in Edinburgh it was shot in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. It is a very harsh movie that tells the reality of many people at that time who not knowing what could happen got hooked on drugs.

Directed by Danny Boyle and released in 1996, popular actors such as Ewan McGregor and Jonny Lee Miller took part in the film. It won several awards such as Best Adapted Screenplay and Golden Space Needle.

Here you have the trailer of the movie, I hope you like it and enjoy it!

Enjoy London!

In order to open this website I am writing a post about travelling to London. I myself travelled to London a couple of months ago and I loved it!

Although it may seem expensive, one can travel to London low cost with a little time and dedication. Nowadays there are a lot of airlines that offer really low cost flights from almost all parts of the world such as Ryanair, Vueling or EasyJet.

Once you get there you will need somewhere to stay. London has a wide range of possibilities on this issue, from a five star luxurious hotel to very basic and comfortable hostels. However, even the most basic hostel in London may go over our budgets. For those extra tight budgets webpages such as Airbnb (https://www.airbnb.co.uk/) are a great option which give you the chance to find hosts willing to rent a room or the whole apartment in more than 190 countries.

Finally, you just need to choose among all the places you could visit in London, such as the markets in the city, museums (many of which are for free) or Pubs, etc. There are many webpages where you can see what is going on in the city at the moment,  for example https://www.airbnb.co.uk/.

Discover and enjoy London!
